As a freelance developer I end up spending time with various teams and companies realizing their vision. I excel at building first versions from the ground up. Getting to market, iterating, and growing the app with the needs of the business.
Here are some companies I’ve worked with recently.
Pace Groups is a way to give and receive peer support facilitated by a mental health clinician. As an alternative to formal therapy or counseling, focused weekly groups help members work through whatever is going. I joined the team to build out their Android member app. Video and chat are the stars of the show. Combined they create an experience that is less “that thing I do once a week” and more of a fixture day to day.
IRL created a place for people to find and make communities to get out and do things in real life. Concerts, meetups, speaker events, and the like. When the world changed they became more relevant than ever, serving as a place to find social connections from afar. I became part of their team to help get their app launch over the finish line. My primary focus was polish and feature parity with iOS. I worked on behind the scenes things like patterns, data consistency, and developer ease of use. My favorite parts were the finer details in user experience, dark mode, animations, and design consistency.
Evidation creates apps and services to help researchers, health providers, and individuals alike. I built their initial Android application (called Achievement) and saw it through many iterations, improvements, and redesigns. It included connecting 3rd party services and SDKs, facilitating research studies, and providing end user experiences to better understand their health and wellness. While my primary focus was the Android side of things I also worked on a prototype iOS application that focused on a UI (built with SwiftUI) driven by backend definitions.
Clutch was an app to share your best gaming moments in a single spot. Specific titles create groups of content while challenges and trending brought everyone together app wide. Not only did you import video clips, but you could edit, add voice overs, and share on other platforms. I helped out after the successful launch of their iOS app, building out an Android version from the ground up. This gig was unique in that my time was always meant to be limited. I built the foundation in such a way that their iOS developers could continue it’s momentum after I was gone. Simple and clear flows of data and a consistent approach throughout.
Hestan Cue is a line of connected cooking appliances that help you cook meals more precisely. Using your phone and connected burner and pan the experience can guide you through cooking your favorite exactly as a chef would. I joined their team for a few months to help with their initial launch. I worked on specific features like an unguided direct cooking mode and recipe browser.
